Hotel Reception

Every year, GEC honors and recognizes excellence in contributions to physics research, study of ionized gases, and the important contributions of students and early career researchers.

The 2023 awards presentation will take place on Thursday, October 12th at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, which is an internationally recognized cultural destination that brings the past forward by immersing visitors in the stories of ingenuity, resourcefulness and innovation that helped shape America.

We will begin the event with networking and beverages at the clocktower entrance and then move into the innovation center for dinner and award presentation.

The awards presented at the 2023 GEC conference will highlight the passion and impact of scientific professionals and organizations in plasma sources, diagnostics, and other areas of focus.

Awards presented:

GEC Early Career Award = https://www.apsgec.org/main/EarlyCareerAward.php

Early Career Researchers (< 10 years post PhD) represent the future driving force of Low Temperature Plasma/Collisions Science. The most accomplished individuals in this group will likely become leaders in these fields. Thus, appreciating their work and encouraging them to continue pursuing their careers is of key importance to the GEC community.

GEC Student Award for Excellence = https://www.apsgec.org/main/StudentAwardForExcellence.php

In order to encourage and recognize the important contributions students make to the Gaseous Electronics Conference, specifically, and to the plasma/atomic-molecular optical science fields, in general, the GEC Executive Committee will recognize one (1) student presenter with the GEC Student Award for Excellence. Finalists will be announced on the meeting website before the meeting and will present their work at the conference.
